This Month's Topic
Anchors and Self-Compassion
Contrary to popular belief, self-compassion isn’t all that warm and fuzzy. Instead its a very reality based approach, of radically accepting everything as it is. Resisting our suffering often adds additional suffering, because we become attached to the focus of our suffering instead of letting it pass by. When employing self-compassion we will be employing this same principal. If we face all the feelings, good and not good, we will release the suffering of them sooner. We are also more likely to use our Anchors, which are those memories of ventral vagal states of mind and body that we can visualize in order to pull us out of our suffering. This month we will learn these two skills and how much interplay these two have.
