Trauma Informed Therapy
Dr. Marr is trained in several trauma specific therapies, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Adaptive Internal Relational Network Therapy (AIR Network), Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET), and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). She combines these with her neurologically based framework for clinical mental health conditions to formulate a therapy that will best serve you.
Have you ever gotten the feeling that the same thing keeps happening to you over and over again… in your relationships, at work, in your attitude about yourself? And yet you can’t put your finger on what’s happening. Or, even worse than that, you know its happening again and you are so frustrated about why you’re doing this to yourself again.
Let me assure you that most of us run into this some of the time, however those who have had difficult or chaotic childhoods have a much higher incidence of this. Even something as seemingly simple as a primary caregiver who had a mental health issue when you were growing up, parents divorcing when you were living at home, or just the absence of feeling like your family had your back as a child can lead to major complications in adulthood. I help people from many walks of life and I am specially trained to help those who have had these difficult beginnings in life.
Clients I have worked with have come to me for:
- Help with figuring out why they keep dating the wrong people
- An intense sense of not feeling good enough
- Imposter Syndrome
- Feeling trapped in their life situations
- Burnout at work and/or in relationships
- Noticing they are always the peacemaker and/or caretaker
- A lack of autonomy and control in their lives
- A lack of joy or believing they don’t know how to be happy
- A sense of isolation, feeling cut off from others
- A sense of guilt anytime they do something for themselves
- A tendency to be motivated by guilt to do things for others
- Have experienced a loss and are navigating grief
Does this sound like you?
If so, I would like to help. What I have found after two decades of this work is our pasts can have a major impact on the present day. It is my pleasure to share my knowledge and clinical wisdom with you, to help you move forward into a joyful life you design for yourself and help you to stop hustling in a life you can hardly enjoy or don’t enjoy at all.
I love to use humor in therapy. I find it to be a language of healing that goes across cultures and backgrounds. Most all of us feel a bit better after a good laugh.
I provide therapy for adults and have a specialty working with women in midlife who just can’t find their joy anymore.
